  Terry
uses a resurfacing process; grinding away chips, rebeveling the rim and polishing with a
diamond compound. If the chip is less than 1/4 inch deep, the piece can be restored
to full value. |
  Pieces that are broken can be bonded back together using a process which
involves using an ultraviolet sensitive acrylic bonding agent. |
  Mr. Merritt points out that broken pieces bonded do not retain full value, but
can be repaired for use. |
Terry Merritt
from Jacksonville, Florida is among a handful of people in the United States experienced
in the art of restoring chipped or broken crystal. Terry first learned the art of crystal
repair in 1973 from Fred Austin, the gentleman credited with discovering crystal repair.
